DO: Be yourself, you look beautiful like that!

Applying makeup is an art form. Whether you're going for a natural look or something more glam, there are certain rules you should follow to ensure your makeup looks its best. Here are some essential do's and don'ts to help you up your makeup game.

Do invest in good quality brushes.

Good brushes will lay down product more evenly and give you a more polished finish. Makeup brushes are not one size fits all. Different brushes are designed for different purposes and using the wrong one can make all the difference in the world. For example, using a flat foundation brush to apply your foundation will give you a completely different result than using a beauty sponge or a dense kabuki brush. Do some research on which tools work best for the type of makeup you like to wear and invest in good quality brushes that will last you a long time. Here are my favorite brush lines: MUD, Sonia Kashuk, and Sigma.

Not Moisturizing First

One of the most common makeup mistakes is not applying moisturizer before foundation. If you have dry skin, your foundation will look patchy and flaky no matter how much you try to blend it in. The key to achieving a flawless base is to make sure your skin is healthy and hydrated before you even think about reaching for your foundation brush. Trust me, your skin will thank you! If you have ever had me do your makeup, these are the products that I used on you Nicole Fae Skincare

Don't forget to prime your face before foundation.

Foundation will go on smoother and last longer if you take the time to prime your face first. Simply apply a small amount of primer to your face with your fingers and blend it in well.

Do use concealer to brighten up under eye circles.

Concealer is a miracle worker when it comes to brightening up under eye circles. Just apply a small amount with your finger or a brush and blend it in well. My “Mint Concealer” is for concealing red blemishes. My ‘“Amber Concealer” is for concealing sun spots”

Go easy with your foundation

Don't cake on the foundation. A little foundation goes a long way. You only need a small amount to even out your skin tone. Less is definitely more when it comes to foundation. Unless you are a full glam kind of person and then go to town, but be sure to blend and blend. For everyday foundation, I recommend my Flawless Foundation. Most of you who have had your makeup done by me have had the experience of using my Hi-Def Foundation which is longwear, water resistant and transfer resistant.

Do check the expiration date on your makeup.

We've all been there. You're getting ready for a big night out and you go to put on your favorite mascara only to find that it's dried up. Don't let this happen to you! Always check the expiration date on your makeup and dispose of anything that's past its prime.

Don't sleep in your makeup.

Sleeping in your makeup is a huge no-no. Not only does it cause breakouts, but it can also lead to premature aging. If you're too tired to wash your face before bed, at least take the time to remove your makeup with some micellar water followed by a face wash. Your skin will thank you in the morning!

By following these simple do's and don'ts, you can take your makeup game to the next level. Just remember that good quality brushes and products are essential, less is more when it comes to foundation, and always take the time to prime your face before applying any other products. With these tips in mind, you'll be well on your way to looking like a flawless goddess. Do you have any other tips to share? Let me know in the comments below!
