7 Signs of a Bad Lash Job

It’s National Lash Day and Nicole Fae Salon wants to SAVE YOUR LASHES!

These are 7 key signs of a bad lash job. Beware!

1. Brushing thru your lash extensions hurt

This could be a sign that too much glue has been used and its possible that your lashes are stuck together at the base. This can lead to damage/breakage to your lashes. You should be able to easily brush your lashes daily without any problems. Too much glue means poor isolation of your lashes during application.

2. You can feel your lash extensions poke and irritate your eyes

This happens when the lash extension hasn't been properly applied to your natural lash. When this happens it causes the extension to spin, twist and turn causing the lash to sit in every way but nicely while poking you in the process. Not fun! Lashes should always be comfortable and unnoticeable to wear.

3. Your inner corner lash extensions are too long and unnatural looking

This comes down to the lash technician choosing a lash too long for such a short area of natural lashes. When long lashes are used in the inner corner it creates an almost fake appearance to your lashes which is not what you want. Lashes should always look believable, natural and beautiful.

4. Each lash extensions is the same length across the length of your eyes

This happens with the lash technician hasn't considered eye shape or thought about what would suit you best when applying your lashes. A mix of 2-3 or more lash lengths should be used to avoid your lashes looking like you've applied a cheap fake lash strip. Your lashes should always suit your eye shape and your natural lash length should be considered.

5. Your eyes burn, even after it's over!

This isn't normal! Slight eye watering can occur but constant discomfort is unusual - the process should be relaxing, pleasant and comfortable. If your eyes continue to burn after your appointment is over, there is a good chance that you will need them removed. If you have any swelling seek medical attention right away.

6.  You need a fill...weekly!

This happens when not enough lash extensions are applied. If you think you've found the cheapest technician around then the chances are they aren't spending enough time with you to provide a long lasting, full lash effect. A true lash application should take 2+ hours and include lashes applied to all your natural lashes (those that are long enough). Any application shorter than this you're likely to be getting a quick treatment that will start to show wear within a week and by 2 weeks all your lashes are gone. Keep in mind though if your natural lashes are very sparse, delicate and fragile your extensions may not last as long as other people's. Unfortunately lashes can only accentuate what you have naturally.

Lash extensions will last 3+ weeks with proper care and a great application. Refills are recommended every 2-4 weeks to keep your lashes looking full, time between fills will always depend on home care, your natural lash cycle and how many lashes you have to work with.

NOTE: following at home care advice is key to your lashes lasting, always follow this advice.

7. Your lashes aren't extensions, they're lash flares or cluster lashes

Clusters or flares should NEVER be applied with permanent lash glue. Lash breakage and infections are common when lash flares are applied.
